I don’t want to beg for love or your attention
When I know there’s little mention
Of anything remotely similar.
And the faces – oh the faces so familiar
Of those in love, they’re always around me,
They’re always there, as if to remind me
That it’s not impossible to find it,
Or so it certainly would seem.
I don’t want to beg for love or your attention –
You show affection that you rush to call a friendship,
A word that pierces through,
Making me call into question
My very being.
I don’t want to beg for love or your attention.
That’s futile, undignified.
Let’s steer away from those
Unhelpful thoughts
Before the moment has dissolved
Into the air of March with scent of time.
You’re here tonight.
And so am I.
